Hello Lovelies,

We are on the threshold of a spanking New Year and what a cracker of all parties to end it with.

It has been my mission for many years now to search out that beastly fun, where one loses oneself to the music, melodies and a Dj who can make one dance like there’s no tomorrow. The genius in question did it for me as way back as 2006 at Smirnoff Experience and it took many of us 5 years to come a full circle. Little did I know that it would be him alone who can bust my every move and how. I found my perfect party with the mother of all Djs this year…meet the devilishly delicious Mr. John Digweed once again! Blue Frog blew the roof off with this double whammy of hosting the legend. It was unfortunate that the Blue Frog in Delhi was not ready in time to release the man there, but turns out we in Mumbai gained it all.

Firstly, it is very hard for any one of us who were there to really describe what the master played and how he so seamlessly put it all together with back to back nights of true clubbing bliss, but allow me to try.

All clubbers present were excited days in advance and went through sleepless nights of excitement to make it for the Bedrock god. Both nights turned out to be gems as it were.

Before I go on, I was a tad disappointed seeing the turn out for this event lower than expected, but that was hardly a determining factor of the musical freight train both nights turned out to be.

The electric feel at Blue Frog was unmistakable and the class of John Digweed performing like the goliath he is more than made up for the absence of many so called music lovers who are forever complaining about the lack of Djs with cutting edge intelligent sounds coming to India to perform, and when one does, a lot of them don’t show up for it. Not really complaining more space for making my monkey moves alright.

Me munkies were delirious at the fact that Diggers appeared two nights in a row, signature opening acts by the ‘Beast from the East’- Sanjay Dutta & console boy wonder-Ankytrixx both of whom more than did justice with their warm up sets full of gorgeous sexy bass lines , that set the tone for the mayhem and magic followed up by the biggie.

John put on a wily display the first night; at once atmospheric and thought provoking with I want to know where these break downs are going kind of foxiness in his tracks selection at which we responded like buds to warmth. He is not only futuristic but played out his set with such murderous calm that we succumbed in mushy bundles of pudding pie. At the end of the night we were unashamedly magnificent in our stomp. We screamed like banshees for more, but later at the exit he did tell me to hold on for Part 2.

The following night smasher, Digweed turned us in to curve balls with a set full of glorious music, abundantly driving us with dance allure. He came in to his own and so did we. Diggers second set isolated and spoilt us with warm grittiness, melodies that’d drop at the exact moment that you think you are going down the rabbit hole billowing out from the speakers. All in all, productions from the might of Nick Muir, Guy J, Henry Saiz, Christian Smith and Bedrock were in splendid showcase to name some. We munkies prepared for it, danced like somewhat possessed and with enthusiasm fit enough to drive Napoleon’s army faster during its retreat from Moscow back in the day.

John Digweed is magnificent and leaves an imprint like no other. I am a victim of his blistering aural assault and I do recall that I had my paws waving at the UK based producer the whole time, but he would have none of it. Sigh!! I was as good as if I owned a dinosaur, by then.

John Digweed not only rocks the scene with taking Bedrock to places few people dream of, his sets are extra-ordinary and to have a mind of an extra-terrestrial, beats it all hollow. He is unforgettable and so were the nights at Blue Frog, it will be etched in all our memories forever!!

I am lock, stock and barrel off to the beaches of Candolim to check out some feisty names in electronic dance music. See you on the sands of Sunburn.

Have a cheery one, until then dance heads!!

Leaving everyone a track that curates my brain from the Diggers back yard no matter how many times I listen to it…

Check it here- Beautiful Strange
